Jacob Zuma has relinquished power following a decision by his party, the African National Congress (ANC). Zuma rose through the ranks of the ANC after joining in 1959, fighting the apartheid government of South Africa. However after formally entering government, the president’s tenure was marred by economic decline and multiple charges of graft. He has been replaced by Cyril Ramaphosa
