A “light” earthquake struck Wednesday morning off the Washington state coast, about 225 miles west of Bellingham.
Instruments at the University of Washington and the U.S. Geological Survey recorded the temblor at 2:26 a.m. in the Pacific Ocean about 55 miles west of Cape Flattery and 105 miles south of Tofino, B.C., on Vancouver Island.
Its magnitude was 4.5 and its depth was 6.2 miles, according to the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. Quakes of 4.0 to 4.9 are considered “light” by seismological standards.
Msunduzi Communications manager Thobeka Mafumbatha said the municipality had received an alert from the South African Weather Service and wished to reiterate the warning with specific reference to its citizens as follows;

All roads in the southern parts of Durban have been closed as heavy rainfall accompanied by heavy winds pounded the city and surrounding areas on Tuesday morning
